Why Do Mobile Phones Lose Data?

There are two possible causes of data loss:

  • Logical failure – The mobile device is in working order but some files or data cannot be accessed for logical reasons such as accidental deletion, forget passcode, resetting, overwriting, reformatting, lost volume, software corruption, jailbreak / rooting failure causing device stuck and no response or improper operation.
  • Physical damage – The mobile device is not functioning due to overheating, dropping, liquid damage, abuse, normal wear and tear, or other destructive and accidental means of damage.

What Causes Mobile, Device Failure, Memory Loss Problem?

Device failure can be caused by a variety of factors, including:

  • System crashes
  • Viruses, malware, hacking or ID theft
  • Power surges or bad battery pack
  • Overheating of an electronics component
  • Liquid Damage or Physical Damage to the device
  • Failure of memory or other IC / component
  • Firmware Corruption due to wrong upgrade or modification.

Now most mobile OS such as iOS and Android provides live data storage to a cloud storage (such as iCloud, S-Cloud, Google Drive, Dropbox etc.), so you can protect you data by simple set its automatic backup for important data.

If your iPhone, Android smartphone, iPad or any other mobile devices was subjected to physical damage, water damage, stopped working, broke, fell into the pool, run over by a car, overheated, dropped on the floor or otherwise fail, don’t write off your data just yet. We may be able to get your data restored and get you back up and running. We can do advance level 3 or component (circuit board IC chip) repair or motherboard swapping.

Recover deleted data from Android phone.

When a “delete” is performed on your Samsung phone by mistake, you suddenly lost your important data on your Android phone. If you have set your Android to do automatic backup of all you data to Google Drive, then you can recover most of your pictures, video, music or app’s easily.

However if you did not set the auto backup to Google Drive, don’t worry as you still have a chance to save them, because the deleted file will be still there until new data overwrites it. Hence, To increase the possibility of recovering lost data from Samsung mobile, including phones, messages, contacts, photos and videos, you’d better stop using your phone when you find files missing. Then we can use a recovery tool to recover them ASAP.

Use your Google account to backup your mobile data to Google Drive:

  • Go to Settings, then find Google (Services & preferences).
  • Tap it, scroll down and go to Backup.
  • Enable Back up to Google Drive. You will be asked to add an account to back up to. After that simply tap Back up now. This could take a while depending on how large the files are. Afterwards, your call history, contacts and text messages should be safely backed up.

However, if you specifically want to back up your text messages and nothing else, you could use a third-party app called “SMS Backup+” to do so and it’s free. The app can back up call logs, SMS and MMS to your Gmail. Of course, you will need to connect your Google account to do so. After doing that you can choose when the back up is performed and what you want to be saved. You will find your messages in a folder usually named SMS in your Gmail – convenient and easy.

For you iPhone / iPad, the easiest way is to use iCloud for backup & restore.

If you really need to restore your messages via an iCloud backup, you need to factory reset your iPhone and then restore it from an iCloud backup that was made before the text messages were deleted.

This is a drastic step, so first make sure you have such a backup in the first place by checking in Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups. Note that the last successful iCloud backup time/date is always displayed right below the Back Up Now button.

If you do, then you need to factory reset your iPhone before restoring it via that iCloud backup. To restore factory settings on the iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings menu
  2. Scroll down to the General menu and tap it.
  3. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and tap the Reset option
  4. At this stage, you’ll be presented with a number of reset options, ranging from a simple reset of iPhone’s settings to resetting its dictionary or home screen layout. There’s nothing specifically called “factory reset.” The option you want is Erase All Content and Settings. Select it.
  5. At this stage, you’ll be prompted for your passcode if you have one
  6. iOS will warn you one last time. You can still cancel, or go ahead with Erase to proceed
  7. It can take a few minutes to erase everything depending on how much data you have. But at the end of the process, your iPhone should restart just like new.
  8. When it restarts, select to restore via the iCloud backup that contained your deleted texts.
